The Nimatullahi Sufi Order welcomes sincere seekers in search of spiritual guidance and selfless service.

About Our Order

The Nimatullahi Sufi Order is deeply rooted in the values of mohabbat (universal loving-kindness) and javanmardi (spiritual chivalry), fostering relationships based on selflessness, empathy, and communal well-being. A key spiritual practice within the Order is silent meditation, which cultivates inner peace and mindfulness. Members are encouraged to attend twice-weekly group meditation sessions, where they engage with Sufi discourses and poetry.

Practices | What We Do

The substance of Sufism is the Truth and the meaning of Sufism is the selfless experiencing and actualization of the Truth. The practice of Sufism is the intention to go towards the Truth by means of love and devotion.

Spiritual Method

The spiritual method of the Nimatullahi Order is founded on four key principles: remembrance of God (dhikr), contemplation (fikr), meditation (muraqiba), and self-examination (muhasiba). These practices form the core of spiritual development within the order.

Social Principle

The widespread influence and popularity of the Nimatullahi Sufi Order during the time of Shah Nimatullah were largely due to his approach to Sufism and his charismatic leadership. Successive masters of the Order have upheld his tradition of integrating social and spiritual life. Sufis are encouraged to engage in society by maintaining a profession and actively contributing to the well-being of their communities.

Attendance at Khaniqah

Sufis are encouraged to attend group meditation sessions at their local khaniqah (Sufi center) twice a week. These gatherings serve as reminders of their spiritual commitments while fostering love and compassion among members. Additionally, meditating in a group setting often proves more effective than practicing alone at home.

Charitable Works

The Nimatullahi Order is built on the principles of fraternity, equality, and deep respect for all religions and cultures. Love and service to humanity, regardless of creed, culture, or nationality, are central to the Order’s philosophy. Members of each khaniqah are encouraged to participate in charitable activities, typically involving the provision of hot meals and other forms of assistance to disadvantaged members of their communities.
